About me

I'm Samuel Encinas, a services and applications software engineer from Segovia, Spain. I have around 6 years of experience building cloud products with a full-stack, end-to-end approach: from the architecture through to the final round of testing in production.

I currently combine development with university teaching — specifically the course Enterprise Software Platforms at the University of Valladolid (Segovia Campus). That course covers precisely the end-to-end process of building enterprise applications in the cloud. Explaining how to build a system to students starting from zero is one of the best kinds of training I know of for designing good systems, because it forces you to defend every technical decision and to keep iterating on the ones you made before.

That dual profile — building and teaching — is also a safe bet. At a time when generative AI tools are changing the rules of the game, and therefore changing what "knowing how to code" means, understanding the fundamentals well enough to teach them helps me enormously to keep them in mind at all times.

I like software that's well made: clear, fast, resilient. I have no interest in adopting unnecessary technology just for the complexity of it — what I care about is solving real problems, elegantly, and as fast as possible.
